Northamptonshire police officer freed by firefighters...after getting stuck in handcuffs

A Northamptonshire police officer had a somewhat embarrassing start to his day...getting stuck in a pair of handcuffs and having to be cut free by a firefighter.

Core training sergeant for Northamptonshire Police, Scott Renwick, posted on social media about the tricky situation he found himself, much to the amusement of friends and colleagues.

"Well that wasn’t a good start to the day. Thanks to @northantsfire for cutting me out of some broken cuffs. #NotFunny. I would have laughed too!!" he said.

The incident happened at 9.46am. A spokesperson for Northants Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "Police Officer released from handcuffs after they had failed, used pedal cutters to release #Mereway."

The incident provided much amusement for Sergeant Renwick's followers.

"Hope you are not too traumatised and received a trauma teddy for being so brave," one said.

"Now I'm not a police officer but I'm pretty sure from the accounts I follow that you'll be getting a hefty cake fine," another said.

"I expect they used cutting edge technology to help you..." another added.
