Motorcyclist and roller skater seriously injured in crash on Northamptonshire country lane

A motorcyclist and a roller skater were both seriously injured after crashing on a Northamptonshire country lane.

The rider was said to be in a critical condition in hospital after the collision at 8am yesterday morning (Thursday April 23).

The skater, 40, was also rushed to University Hospital in Coventry with fractures.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash close to Great Oxendon, near Market Harborough, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "At about 8am, a blue Suzuki GSXR motorbike and a roller skater were in collision in Oxendon Road, between Clipston Road, East Farndon and Main Street, Great Oxendon.

"The motorcyclist, a 50-year-old man, and the skater, a 40-year-old man, were both taken to University Hospital Coventry. The 50-year-old man is in a critical condition and the 40-year-old man sustained fractures and contusions.

"We are asking for anyone with information or may have witnessed this incident to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 or Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 0041 of 23/04/20."
