Man accused of drunken crash at Corby accident blackspot set to appear in court today

A man charged with crashing into the boundary fence of a home in Great Oakley while two-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit is set to appear in court today (Thursday, June 24).

The house in Pound Close, which backs on to Lewin Road at the Danesholme roundabout, has been hit by vehicles on several occasions during the past few years because there is no crash barrier on that part of the roundabout.

MP Tom Pursglove and local unitary councillors Ross Armour, Leanne Buckingham and Simon Rielly have been helping the householders in their campaign to get a crash barrier installed at the blackspot to help protect their home.

In March, members of the seven-strong family were in their home when a van smashed into the fence and shed and demolished it, just a metre from where mum Claire Marsh had been sitting.

It was the third such incident since the family had moved into their home 13 years ago, during which time the neighbours have also had their wall demolished and there have been many near-misses.

- Luckson Tinarwo, 41, of Frith Close, Great Oakley, has been charged with driving with 201mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, and with failing to stop after a road accident.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Northampton this morning.
