OUNDLE SCHOOL
Oundle School is delighted to recognise the achievements of this year’s (I)GCSE cohort in public examinations.
Despite facing unprecedented disruption to their education both before and during their time at Oundle, our pupils performed admirably, making significant progress in their Fifth Form year to achieve results comparable to the school’s pre-pandemic norms.
27 per cent of all grades awarded were grade 9, 54 per cent were 9 or 8, and 74 per cent were graded at 9-7.
Across all entries, the most common grade was a grade 9.
23 pupils achieved straight grade 9s and 8s, while 33 pupils achieved straight grades 9-7 (the equivalent of A*-A).
Topping the lists were Eliza, Fergus and Sophie who recorded straight grade 9s, amassing a remarkable 33 top grades between them.
At A-level, 26 per cent of grades awarded were at A* or equivalent, with 63 per cent A*A and 83 per cent A*–B.
A high proportion of pupils immediately secured a place at one of their chosen universities and 17 pupils took up Oxbridge offers.
Headteacher Sarah Kerr-DineenThese pupils have faced considerable challenges over the past few years and did well to come though so strongly in the run-up to their (I)GCSEs this summer.
We all look forward to even greater things to come as they embark confidently on Sixth Form study.
THE FERRERS SCHOOL, Higham Ferrers
Staff and students at The Ferrers School are celebrating another set of excellent GCSE and BTEC exam results this year.
Despite several years of disrupted education due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the school has seen many individual successes, with special mentions going to Patsy Johnson, Alex Mellor, Keira Salmon, Matilda Scotney, Ted Yates, Anysia Adetilo and Scarlet Bladon who averaged over grade 7 across their complement of GCSEs.
The school has also seen exceptional progress from Megan Swankie, Niall Brophy, Charlie Carroll, Sophie Cousins and Ben Lord.
Maddie Dove, Grace Sturman, Antony Hutchison, Amber Kirkland, Syrah-Rose Jubb, Jayden Hart, Marley Jaichner, Ryan Sweeney, Evie Baxter and Grace Denne achieved the highest grades in their vocational qualifications.
Stand-out grades were seen in several curriculum areas including art, music and PE but the school also saw significant improvements in mathematics, English and the individual sciences.
Principal Angela SmithWe couldn’t be prouder of our students who have shown so much resilience and tenacity during this time. The last few years have been challenging, but our students have not allowed this to hold them back.
We would like to thank our staff, students and their families for their unwavering commitment and support.
Sarah Wilson, executive principal at Meridian TrustI’m thrilled for our Year 11 cohort who have performed brilliantly in their GCSE exams.
Today’s results are a testament to the dedication they’ve shown during their time at The Ferrers School and they should be very proud of themselves.
I wish them every success as they take their next steps into post-16 study and beyond.
