The aftermath of Storm Ciara continues to be felt with the leisure terrace and some restaurants set to remain closed for the next few days.

The L-shaped leisure terrace at the far end of the retail park, where the cinema has only been open for eight months, suffered external cladding damage during Storm Ciara on Sunday.

Gale force winds caused it to be evacuated at about 1pm and an exclusion zone was set up.

Bosses at Rushden Lakes have said an investigation will take place to look at how this building at Rushden Lakes suffered such damage during a storm.

They have also posted an update on the Rushden Lakes Facebook page today (Tuesday).

It says: "Due to damage caused by this weekend’s extreme weather, the leisure terrace and adjoining restaurants will remain closed for the next few days.

"We apologise for the impact this may have on your visit to Rushden Lakes, but the safety of our visitors and staff is of paramount importance.

"We will keep you updated on when the buildings are likely to re-open.

"The boardwalk restaurants and stores in Garden Square, South Terrace, Southwalk, Northwalk and East Terrace are open and trading as usual."
