The coffee giants will be opening a store at Cransley Park, just off the A43, which will be the 11th place where their hot drinks can be bought in the town after planning permission was granted earlier this year.

A deal has been signed for a 15-year lease on the unit with work on the development recently getting under way. The unit's practical completion is scheduled for spring, just months away.

The new food and beverage stop will create 14 full-time jobs and have 36 parking spaces. The site was previously earmarked for a hotel but this plan has since been dropped.

There are currently five Costa Coffee stores in Kettering with stores found in High Street, Gold Street, Kettering General Hospital, the Odeon Cinema in Pegasus Court and a drive-thru in Carina Road.

There are also five Costa Expresses at the Bignal Court Co-Op, Windmill Avenue Tesco Express, London Road Co-Op, Carina Road Tesco Extra and Barton Road Shell garage.

Cllr Jim Hakewill, ward councillor for the area, previously spoke out against the development because of the impact it would have on the row of nearby cottages.

Once open and trading the unit will be part of the St Francis Group and the Richardson Family’s 270,000 sq ft industrial Cransley Park development, as well as the proposed further development for additional business units and other drive-to retail properties at the entrance known as Cransley Court.

It's expected that the first occupier will be moving into the park very soon although they have not been named.
