A Kettering schoolgirl raised hundreds of pounds for KGH by hosting a bake sale outside her home on Saturday.

Isla Allen, 10, a pupil at Millbrook Junior School, sold Victoria sponges, school tray-bakes, brownies, cookies, cornflake cakes and more to friends and neighbours outside her home in Reservoir Road, Kettering.

Proud mum Elise Allen, who works as a receptionist at KGH in the treatment centre, said: "My daughter decided she wanted to do a bake sale and then she wanted to donate everything to the hospital.

"We raised nearly £350. Not everybody got a cake, they just donated because they knew where the money was going."

Elise said Isla will receive a certificate to recognise her efforts and donations, she said: "She's over the moon, she's not stopped talking about it!

"It's really lovely, especially for her kind of age group, that's a massive thing, it's recognition."

Working in the hospital means Elise has seen the frontline efforts and she said: "The nurses have gone over to the Covid wards, it's been hard for everybody but what I am doing (in the treatment centre) is pretty much the same."

After the success of her first bake sale, Elise thinks Isla might plan another with even more yummy treats on offer. Well done, Isla!
