Kettering Poppy Appeal raises more than £40,000

The cash has been counted and last year's Poppy Appeal in Kettering raised £41,580.52.

The amazing total - an increase of 70 per cent - saw the Kettering branch win a cup for being the most improved in the county.

Remembrance poppy sellers and other volunteers braved the cold to collect money for the Royal British Legion, which will help the legion in their work with veterans and their families.

Kettering Poppy Appeal organiser Pauline Goodman said: "Thank you Kettering for your fantastic support during the 2019 Poppy Appeal.

"Thanks to you the Royal British Legion raised £41580.52 which will help the legion continue their work with armed forces veterans and their families.

"Special thanks to the air force, army and sea cadets who braved the freezing cold weather on two consecutive Saturdays in November to do a town collection.

"Also to Toller Church who provided a warm base for them to have a snack, a cuppa and a warm up and Jamie’s in Gold Street who fed them a lovely warm lunch.

"With your help we also won a cup for the most improved branch in Northamptonshire – up 70 per cent! Thank you all so much."
