Irthlingborough day centre ensures it's a day to remember as 'Mrs T' turns 100!

Staff from a day centre made sure they didn't miss out on the celebrations for one of their very special members.

While the Candocare Day Centre for the elderly and vulnerable is temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they couldn't miss the opportunity of celebrating one of their service users Margaret Tirebuck's 100th birthday on Sunday (June 7).

Margaret, who is known at Candocare as Mrs T, has attended there since they opened their doors in May 2014 and usually goes twice a week.

Margaret, who lives in Raunds with her son Richard and daughter in-law Linda, has two other sons, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Kathleen Meredith, managing director of Candocare which is based at Irthlingborough Library, said: "Although we couldn't celebrate as we had planned at our day centre, we paid Mrs T a visit (social distancing of course) with balloons, flowers and a basket of wool to keep her busy while in lockdown, as she still loves her knitting.

"Margaret was thrilled to receive a birthday card from Her Majesty the Queen.

"I hope we will be able to open our doors again at Candocare as soon as it is safe to do so, then everyone can meet up with their friends again."

Earlier this week, the Northants Telegraph reported on how the mayor of Raunds had also paid a visit to wish Margaret a very happy birthday.
