An online exhibition will be held next week for people to have their say about a plan to build 135 homes in Rushden.

Modular housing company ilke Homes want to create the development - with every house an 'affordable home' - on land north of Shirley Road.

The site is included in Rushden Town Council's Neighbourhood Plan and ilke Homes are also promising open space and a public footpath to link Shirley Road and Prospect Avenue.

They say the homes will be "some of the most energy-efficient in the country".

Tom Heathcote, executive director of development at ilke Homes, said: “After a number of months spent engaging with local councillors and officers at East Northamptonshire Council, we are excited to be consulting with local residents and community groups on our emerging proposals for Shirley Road.

“By delivering 135 new homes, all of which will be affordable, this development offers a real opportunity for the people of Rushden - delivering a range of new homes that are badly needed for the community, including, affordable homes, first time buyers properties, family homes, and smaller single level units which enabling older residents to downsize, as well as significant investment in the local community.

“We are keen to make our proposals the best that it can possibly be. That is why we are keen to hear your views and answer your questions at our public consultation.”

Due to social distancing restrictions ilke Homes are holding an online exhibition rather than a face-to-face event.

Throughout the online exhibition the project team will present the proposals and residents will be able to ask questions and provide feedback.

The hour-long exhibition will be held online on Wednesday, December 2, at 6.30pm and residents can sign up directly via the website at www.shirleyroad.co.uk.
