Fire kit and boots will be provided.

There will be the chance to speak to local crew members and find out more about the role of being an on-call firefighter and how to apply.

Wellingborough station manager Scott Hirons said: "On-call firefighters have, in the past, included everyone from self-employed carpenters to hairdressers, stay-at-home parents or electricians.

"Being an on-call firefighter offers the flexibility to make this kind of balance possible.

"Being an on-call firefighter is such a rewarding role where community-minded people get to support the safety of the neighbourhoods in which they live or work.

"We want to attract the right people into these positions and I hope our drop-in events at Wellingborough prove popular with all those who think they might have what it takes."

On-call firefighters do everything from fighting fires to attending water rescues, road traffic collisions and animal rescues to carrying out fire prevention work in the community.

All training is provided and it is a paid role which people take on for the times of day or night they can commit to the service.
