Emergency grants available for struggling Northamptonshire charities amid Coronavirus outbreak

Northamptonshire Community Foundation helps to fund community-based action, through grants, which improves the lives of the counties most disadvantaged people and communities.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, bosses have said it has created an unprecedented strain on Northamptonshire’s voluntary sector.

As a result, the charity has launched a 'Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund' to raise urgent funds, and Chronicle & Echo readers' are needed to support it.

Donations will go to Northamptonshire charities supporting local people facing a range of social issues including social isolation, food poverty, poverty and poor mental health.

Mary Hollands, of Northamptonshire Community Foundation said: “Our voluntary groups desperately need to continue providing care and support for older and vulnerable people hit by the social and economic impact of the coronavirus.

"Demand on their services is increasing while food donations have reduced due to stockpiling and local charities cannot get out in their communities to do their usual fund raising.

"Northamptonshire Community Foundation stands shoulder-to-shoulder with our voluntary sector during this crisis. Please stand with us too.”

Carlsberg UK, who hold a fund with the community foundation, have already pledged their support.

Andrew Roache, head of corporate affairs added: “We recognise the significant impact the coronavirus outbreak has had on so many people in our local community and therefore wanted to support the NCF’s Coronavirus Response and Recovery appeal to ensure the vital work happening in the voluntary sector is able to continue.”
