A hard-working coach and a promising junior at Corby Town Table Tennis Club have been recognised for their achievements.

Two of the three annual awards in the Kettering and District Table Tennis League went to the Kingswood club with 15-year-old Reuben Warburton taking the award for the most improved junior.

Reuben had a fantastic season in Division Two, winning 87 per cent of his games and just edging out his team-mate Sam Pedley.

Head coach Henry Arthur won the Dennis Millman Award for his services to the league.

Henry not only coaches at the Corby club but also runs Kettering Smash Centre, is the league development officer, county junior development officer, part of the county coaching team and runs TTKidz and the Kettering Junior League.

Club chairman Chris Haynes said he is proud of both club members.

He said: "This is truly deserved recognition for their achievements over the past 12 months."

The club is back open again for members on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening and has a new online booking system to help facilitate Covid-safe procedures.

Teams based at the Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre missed out on a chance of silverware this season because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Corby Rothbury were top of the table in Division One and Corby Lincoln led Division Two with just a handful of fixtures left.
