Cranford Primary School treats pupils with National Lottery funding

Pupils at Cranford CE Primary School were enjoying their new playground equipment on Tuesday when it officially opened.

The small village school has installed an Active Climber thanks to £10,000 funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Headteacher Richard Albert said: "Our children absolutely love playing outdoors in our beautiful setting and they're all very excited about the new equipment.

"It was an absolute pleasure to see their faces as they finally got to have a go.

"We're delighted that the National Lottery Community Fund has supported us in this way and now, thanks to National Lottery players, our pupils will be able to engage in more active, adventurous play throughout the year on the new Active Climber with its all-weather surface."

The school successfully applied for the grant from the fund which redistributes money raised by National Lottery players to good causes.

It is the largest community funder in the UK.

The active climber is a frame made from wood and pupils trying it out for the first time were loving it as they climbed around the structure.

The new playground equipment was opened by ex-pupil and sporting ambassador Alex Wallace, from the Mintridge Foundation, which is a charity that enhances the life skills of young people through sport.
