A pair of Corby sisters who have always had joint birthday parties, will once again be spending their special day together today (Monday) despite their family's plans.

Mum Laura Perry had just finished celebrating daughter Louise's first birthday when she went into labour and gave birth to her fourth child, Sasha.

Unfortunately, 17 years later, just as the girls were to have separate parties for the first time, Louise's surprise birthday bash had to be cancelled due to lockdown.

Laura said: "We had sent out invites for 150 guests for Louise's 18th surprise birthday and everyone who was invited kept quiet and kept it secret. Then lockdown happened and we had to cancel.

"We had to tell her what we had planned. The girls have shared every party and this year Louise's party was going to be a different day but now we'll be spending it at home with a barbecue."

Lodge Park Academy A-Level student Louise has been accepted to study English literature at Northumbria University, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and it is hoped that her party will be rescheduled as a send-off for her first-year studies.

Today she will be enjoying a Mars bar cake made by her gran whilst sister Sasha will be tucking into a funfetti cake made by the soon-to-be 17-year-old and dad Jon.

Older brothers Jon, 23 and 21-year-old Joshua will be enjoying a socially-distanced celebration with their sisters and parents at their Rowlett Road home, with special video calls from family and friends.

Laura added: "They really just want to see their friends but at least they can celebrate their day together."
