Christmas carol service at Rushden Lakes tomorrow
A Christmas carol service put on by AFC Rushden & Diamonds will take place at Rushden Lakes tomorrow (Wednesday).
The Diamonds are putting on the service, backed and supported by the Reverend Rachel Hawkins and St Peter’s Parish Church in Rushden, from 7.30pm. The event is free to attend and will take place on the boardwalk or near the Cineworld entrance if the weather is bad.
Accompanying music will be provided by the aptly named Paul Needle’s Diamond Jazz Quartet.
Reverend Rachel Hawkins is very much looking forward to the event. She said: “St Peter's Parish Church are privileged to be working with AFC Rushden & Diamonds and the Lakes to provide this opportunity and warm welcome for everyone to come and celebrate the real reason for this wonderful season of Christmas.”
Paul Rich, centre manager at Rushden Lakes, said: “We are really looking forward to hosting the Diamonds' Christmas carol service this year. It will be an enjoyable evening for all the
family and great for community building.”
AFC Rushden & Diamonds commercial director John Gregory said: As a community football club we see huge value as a leading local sporting club to play a significant role in bringing our community together.
"Together with St Peters Parish Church in Rushden and the hugely supportive Rushden Lakes management we hope this event will have both social and cultural impact.
"The whole idea behind this community Christmas event is encourage people in the community to come together and share the joys of the season at this prime location.”
Finedon vicar the Rev Richard Coles was due to attend the service but this morning he announced the death of his partner, Rev David Coles.
AFC Rushden & Diamonds said their thoughts and prayers will be with him, his family and friends at the service.
