Another empty unit as KFC leaves Wellingborough site
But staff have been relocated to the fast food chain's other branch in the town
The closure of this fast food restaurant leaves another empty unit in one of Wellingborough's main shopping streets.
Diners will no longer be able to get their fix of fried chicken from KFC in Cambridge Street following its closure.
Instead of a menu featuring the boneless banquet or family bucket made with the Colonel's secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices, there is now just a sign saying 'We are closed' on the door and brown paper covers the windows.
A spokesman for KFC said: “Sadly, the Colonel’s time came to an end on Cambridge Street, but Wellingborough chicken fans need not despair as they can still visit our nearby drive-thru on Turnells Mill Lane.
"You can even find some familiar faces as all our team members were relocated."
KFC's closure means another empty unit in the shopping street which already has several vacant properties, including where Slots of Fun amusements used to be.
However, there are still plenty of places to grab a bite to eat with numerous takeaways along the road as well as June Plum serving Jamaican food and Turkish restaurant Sultan.
Cambridge Street also has a number of independent shops including florists Rockabilly Rose.
