Donations are still being taken for an appeal to help the family of murder victim Steven Smith.

Mr Smith, 23, died on October 25 after officers were called to a house in Trafford Road, Rushden, earlier that morning following reports of a man being stabbed.

More than £500 has since been raised by an appeal launched to help his family.

Nene Valley Community Action (NVCA), a community organisation which supports people in the area, got in touch with the family to ask if they could help.

They set up a JustGiving page for anyone wishing to support Mr Smith’s family on their behalf.

NVCA chief executive Rosemary Hadaway said they have raised more than £500 so far, but are keen to help the family as much as they can and are still accepting donations online or in person.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in person can call into the office in West Street, Rushden, any time between 9am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

Danney Beaumont, 26, of Maple Road, Rushden, appeared at Leicester Crown Court on October 28 accused of Mr Smith’s murder.

No plea was entered by Beaumont, but a date was set for the next hearing to be held on Monday, November 10, again in Leicester.
