A PCSO has been praised for going above and beyond the call of duty after a couple fell victim to a pair of conmen.
Police were called after reports that two men had gone to the home of a couple living in Irthlingborough and offered to cut their hedge for £40.
But as soon as the occupant, who lives at the address with his disabled wife, handed over the money, the men ran off with the cash without completing any work at the property.
They rang the police and described the two men as having local accents, although the suspects have not been found.
PCSO Bryan responded to the call and went out to see the couple, who said they felt stupid to have been caught off guard.
But as well as offering reassurance to them about the incident, the PCSO went out of his way to say that he will get his son to cut the couple’s hedge for free.
His actions have since been praised by officers from Northamptonshire Police.
Sector inspector for East Northamptonshire Julie Mead said: “This was a lovely thing for PCSO Bryan to do.”
Rachael Handford, the force control room inspector, also praised PCSO Bryan on his efforts and said he had provided ‘excellent reassurance and community spirit.’
