Northampton General Hospital says a patient tested for Ebola has tested negative for the virus.

Test results on the female patient had already ruled out malaria.

The Press Association had reported on Wednesday that the hospital had a suspected case of Ebola.

And, in a statement released just before midnight on Wednesday, a hospital spokesman said: “A patient with a suspected case of Ebola was admitted to Northampton General Hospital this evening.

“We are confident that all appropriate actions are being taken to protect the public’s health and ensure there is no risk to patients or staff.”
