PARKING restrictions next to a main junction in Rothwell are incorrect and could be changed, it has emerged.
The county council’s senior traffic engineer has told the town council that road markings in High Street are wrong.
The current marking outside Windmills Cafe is a single yellow line, but the county council has said that should be a double yellow line.
The town council has the option of correcting the markings or changing the road restrictions. Members are also considering introducing a loading bay to the area concerned.
In considering the move, they are aware of an approved planning application to convert the former Midland bank into an Italian restaurant.
There were concerns the restaurant would not have enough parking.
The decision will form part of a county council consultation with all town and parish councils about highways. Any work would be paid for out of the county council’s highways budget.
