An angry parent has hit out after Tresham College made the decision to move his daughter’s course from its Kettering campus just days before term starts.
Michael Moore’s daughter Georgina had enrolled for the NVQ Level 3 in beauty therapy at the Windmill Avenue site at the start of the summer holidays.
But the college has now decided to run the course from Corby only, rather than both sites.
And Mr Moore is far from happy at the decision which he says will ‘have a huge impact on their lives’.
He said: “My daughter and a number of other girls made a complete commitment to take part in the course at Kettering and have only now been told that won’t be honoured.
“I’m a single parent and getting my daughter to Corby every day will have a huge financial impact. Buses aren’t cheap.
“It’s all a bit up in the air whether I can even afford to send her.
“I know another parent who simply can’t get her daughter to Corby.
“We’ve been given absolutely no answers and to be honest the whole thing stinks.
“The girls have all bought beauty uniforms and because of this situation some of them won’t be using them.”
A spokesman for Tresham College said: “Tresham aims to offer all full-time courses advertised each September.
“Once all students have enrolled it is important to ensure that each student will have the best learning experience possible.
“This year the decision has been made to offer the beauty therapy Level 3 course from the Corby campus alone to accommodate the total number of students who will be studying this year.
“This decision enables students to learn from each other and complete practical learning in the most suitable environment with full support from tutors.”
