More than 800 people took part in a St George’s Day parade through Wellingborough.
Hundreds of members of Wellingborough District Scouts and Girl Guides marched through the streets of Wellingborough to celebrate the patron saint of England on Sunday.
The parade started at Dale End park in Croyland Road and made its way to All Saints Church in Midland Road where a service, in the presence of the mayor of Wellingborough, took place and all young people and adult members renewed the promise they first made when they joined the movements.
The parade then travelled along Northampton Road, Oxford Street, College Street and Market Street into Midland Road to the church.
After the service the parade formed up outside the church and moved off to return to Dale End via Castle Way, Swanspool, Doddington Road and Croyland Road.
Wellingborough Scouts District Commissioner Gillian Dowling said: “St George’s Day is the most important day in our Scouting year, it’s when we re-dedicate ourselves to Scouting and its values.
“It is also our main opportunity to allow the people of Wellingborough to see that Scouting is still going strong in the borough.”
