Corby Council along with its partners celebrated the completion of its latest housing development yesterday (Monday).

This latest regeneration project has been undertaken by Corby Council in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Lodge Park Partnership Homes Ltd and Asra Housing Group.

The development has seen 43 outdated flats, an unused pub and commercial spaces replaced with 36 new affordable homes and a regenerated community area.

Of the 36 new homes, 18 are new council homes, consisting of a mix of two-bedroom family houses and two-bedroom flats designed for older residents.

These properties add to the borough’s social housing portfolio and provide quality, modern housing to local residents on the housing waiting list.

Asra has provided a further 18 new homes for affordable rent alongside Corby’s council homes.

This latest project had been made possible by both the council and Asra investing in their building programmes, alongside funding support from the HCA of nearly £1.5m to deliver these and other homes on the old Finland Way, Boston Close, Leighton Road and Willow Brook Road sites.

Corby Council’s lead member for housing Cllr Bob Eyles said: “Canada Square was highlighted as an area within the borough in need of investment and is a further example of the council’s commitment to growth and regeneration, as already seen in other areas of the borough.

“We are very pleased to finally be in a position where a completion ceremony can take place.

“This is a real improvement for our residents and we are proud to be one of the few councils still building much needed and in demand council properties.”

Michael David of the Homes and Communities Agency said: “We are particularly pleased to see the Canada Square development come to completion.

“Not only because the HCA have funded units as part of our AHP, but, because we are also pleased to see the wider scheme achieving such fantastic regeneration in this area of Corby.”

A spokesman for Lodge Park Partnership Homes Ltd said: “Lodge Park have been delighted to support the council’s initiative for regeneration at Canada Square, and to be part of this new development scheme.

“We look forward to working together with all at the housing team in the near future.”
