Inspectors have given top marks to a Corby primary school after rating it as outstanding.
Corby Primary Academy received the best possible outcome after Ofsted carried out an inspection of the school on July 2 and 3.
They thoroughly deserve this outcome and the report is a real pleasure to readSir Barry Day, OBE
They said the school, which only opened in September 2013, was outstanding overall after assessing its quality of leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and early years provision.
The report said: “This new and growing academy has got off to an extremely good start because of the outstanding leadership of the principal and executive principal and strong support from the trust.”
Inspectors said that by the end of Year 3, pupils are attaining standards above those expected for their age in reading, writing and mathematics.
They said pupils at the school, which is run by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT), show ‘an enthusiasm and a thirst for learning’ and they are ‘caring, courteous, friendly and kind.’
Principal Nikki Lamond said: “I want to thank the pupils and staff who continue to work tremendously hard and the families who support us to make Corby Primary Academy the outstanding academy it is today.
“I am delighted that the report recognises how hard we have worked in the short time since the academy opened.
“It was great to read that parents hold very positive views about the academy and are pleased with the care and education provided for their children.”
The report also said pupils are well prepared for their next school and ‘for life in modern Britain.’
Sir Barry Day, OBE, chief executive of the GDFT, said: “My congratulations go to Mrs Lamond and her staff at Corby Primary Academy, who are dedicated and of the highest calibre.
“They thoroughly deserve this outcome and the report is a real pleasure to read.
“I look forward to watching the academy continue to grow over the coming years and I am sure they will be a valuable support to our new Rushden Primary Academy which opens this September.”
