He also earns £75,000 as an MP, £650,000 a year for a one-day-a-week position with US investment group Black Rock and £120,000 from a thinktank based in the USA.

Add in the £800,000 he earned last year for 15 speaking engagements and you have a substantial salary.

So it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when he earns more in a year than many in Kettering and the surrounding area will ever earn in their working lives.

His primary job is as the Member of Parliament for Tatton, a full-time job if my memory serves me right – his job is to work on behalf of his constituents. Apart from the sheer greed of the man, I’m wondering when he’ll have time to do this.

This all goes to show how out of touch the Conservatives are with working people in Britain – they are, and always will be, the party of the rich.
