Well, as my Mum would say, “onwards and upwards!”
Losing your mum at any time of the year is hard but at Christmas, when everyone around you is eagerly awaiting the festivities and families get together, it seems so much harder.
We got through it having given mum the very best send off we could.
On behalf of my family I would like to thank everyone for their very kind cards and messages of sympathy; to everyone who attended her service and to everyone who helped to make the occasion as comforting and memorable as possible.
Naturally, we are all grieving in our own way but life, sadly, has to go on.
This year looks to be another very busy year for us all at Crazy Hats, with my personal resolution being to continue to enjoy what we do while offering much-needed support to those going through breast cancer and, at the same time, working hard out and about in the community, to raise funds to support many agreed projects at both Kettering and Northampton general hospitals.
This year we have pledged in excess of £100,000 to fund various projects in screening and surgical departments.
Among other planned events in the diary, it seems unbelievable that we are now busily preparing for our 12th Annual Sponsored Walk, due to take place at Wicksteed Park from 10.30am on Sunday, March 23.
After battling with snow and heavy rain last year we are praying for better weather this year and ask, once again, that you mark this date in your diary to join us and stride out, with your crazy hats on, of course, to help us to continue to enhance breast cancer services in the county.
Entry forms for our walk will be circulated and made available by mid-January.
