Shoppers have less than a month to wait until they can get a first look around their new £5 million Asda store.

The new supermarket being built at Warth Park in London Road, Raunds, is set to create 50 new jobs for the area and will be opening next month.

Simon Williams from Roxhill Developments, which has been responsible for the development at phase two of Warth Park since 2010, revealed the opening date at last week’s planning meeting where an extension to the site was approved.

He said: “Monday, April 24, is the opening date for the new Raunds Asda.”

Asda bosses told the Northants Telegraph last month that the 10,000sq ft superstore will have everything customers need when shopping for essentials or topping up their big shop.

They have said fresh food will be a major part of the new store, with a wide selection of fish, meat, baked products and fruit and vegetables on offer.

There will also be a petrol station.

Barry Fowles, store manager at Asda Raunds, said he was looking forward to welcoming shoppers to the new store and he added: “This store has been designed so that all of the essentials Raunds shoppers need are easy to find under one roof.”

Asda Raunds will have 83 car parking spaces and will open between 7am and 11pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

There will also be a click and collect service at the store for shoppers making use of Asda’s online offering.
