One of network of official jubilee beacons will be lit in Wellingborough

ONE of a network of 2012 official jubilee beacons will be put up and lit in Wellingborough.

All 2012 beacons across the UK will be lit between 10pm and 10.30pm on Monday, June 4.

The Queen will light the final beacon at about 10.30pm in Central London.

A special book listing all the beacon sites for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be given to the Queen by the Pageant Master Bruno Peek OBE after the event.

Wellingborough’s beacon will be sited at the Old Grammarians Sports field on Sywell Road, Wellingborough.

In celebration of the lighting of the beacon, and leading up the event, Wellingborough Old Grammarians will be hosting a day of family orientated entertainment which will include a sports day, rugby, cricket and football tournaments for local teams and various stalls.

Local groups of performers will also be singing and playing music during the evening.

The fun day will begin at midday and the beacon will be lit at 10.15pm.
