Corby gymnast Daniel Keatings’ Olympic dream is still alive after the British men’s team qualified for the London 2012 games.

The team had failed to secure a place at the Olympics after a poor performance at the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo but it was a different story at the London Prepares event at North Greenwich Arena last night.

Daniel, 22, finished third overall as Great Britain seized their final chance and qualified a full men’s artistic gymnastics team for the Olympic Games.

The team showed a great improvement on their performance at the World Championships and finished first ahead of other qualifiers France, Spain and Italy.

Britain’s first apparatus was the high bar.

Former Kingswood School pupil Keatings was the first to compete and settled the crowd’s nerves with a clean performance, which he followed with another strong performance on the floor and consistent work throughout.
