Older workers top overtime table

BRASS instrument players looking for a new challenge this year are invited to join one of the county’s oldest bands.

Corby Silver Band was formed at the town’s pole fair in 1902 and has members from across the county. Rehearsals take place from 8pm to 10pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and performances take place at public events throughout the year.

There are vacancies for a range of instruments including cornet, bass, trombone and percussion.

There is also a training band which rehearses at 7pm on Mondays, offering people the chance to get back into playing brass, or to take up another brass instrument.

Instruments are available to loan, and members of the training band can eventually go on to play with their senior counterparts in the full band.

Rehearsals take place at the Corby Silver Band Club, Denford Road, Corby, and there is no joining fee or subscription to pay.

For further information about the band visit the website at www.corbysilverband.com, phone Brenda Wheeler on 01536 355584 or email corbysilverband @btinternet.com.
