A large oil spill in Oundle Market Place, where the Women’s Tour is set to begin on Friday, has been made safe and cleaned up.
Councillor Paul King, Oundle Mayor who lives in the area, confirmed that local authorities had brought the spillage under control.
He said: “I didn’t see the spillage happen but it seems to have been all sorted out. A form of cleaning product was put on to soak up the oil and was then swept.
“The road is back in use and it shouldn’t affect the Tour stage on Friday.”
