Northants villages where wind farm will be built to benefit from £30,000 for community projects

Two Northamptonshire villages will benefit from almost £30,000 in funding in the first year of delivery of a wind farm.

The New Albion wind farm, situated between the villages of Rushton and Pipewell, was given the go-ahead in 2010.

Now the Northamptonshire Community Foundation, a local grant-giving charity, has announced the launch of the New Albion Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund with £28,700 available for community projects.

The New Albion Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has been established on behalf of New Albion Wind Ltd to provide grants to projects which benefit residents in the parishes of Rushton and Pipewell.

There will be a local selection panel made up of residents who will meet throughout the year.

The fund can support a range of charitable, educational, environmental and general community amenity projects to benefit residents in the local community around the wind farm site.

There will be a local panel made up of community representatives from the two parishes and groups can apply online via the Foundation’s website or speak to a Grants Team member.

Northamptonshire Community Foundation awards much needed financial support to people and groups most in need in this county - from youth clubs and elderly people’s social groups to football clubs, disability support groups and healthy eating initiatives.

Victoria Miles, Northamptonshire Community Foundation chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be working with New Albion Wind Ltd and the communities of Pipewell and Rushton in order to improve the wellbeing and community facilities of the two parishes.

“The foundation has over 15 years experience of grant giving on behalf of a range of donors and we look forward to see the difference the funds make locally.”
