PC Michael Clark, appeared before a misconduct hearing yesterday to face allegations he had breached the standards of professional behaviour.

An internal investigation was carried out after a complaint was received against him, claiming he “misrepresented evidence relating to an allegation of assault” in which a member of the public was implicated as the suspect.

The panel concluded that PC Clark’s conduct did not amount to gross misconduct and did not breach the standards of professional behaviour of “honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities, orders and instructions.”

However in view of failings identified in the course of PC Clark’s investigation, it was the panel’s view the officer would benefit from “training and development” as a result.

This, a police spokeswoman said, was to “ensure he provides the standards of service reasonably expected by Northamptonshire Police.”
