Northamptonshire woman to run London Marathon on 82nd birthday

Diana Green, from Old near Kettering, started running after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002.

She underwent surgery and then completed her first marathon a year later, aged 69.

Mrs Green said: “The crowds are so wonderful, they really spur you on!

“I’m excited to be starting in the VIP section and spying some celebs.”

This will be her 13th London Marathon – and probably her last one – and she is aiming to complete the course in seven hours.

Her steady training schedule includes a local Park Run every Saturday morning and she also has a treadmill in her house.

Diana doesn’t run to music, so she’s looking forward to absorbing the atmosphere from the crowds in London.

She is also raising funds for a local hospital, as her daughter was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.
