Police seized an Aston Martin DB9 driving on the A14 for no insurance - the driver had an insurance policy on the car but it wasn’t valid.
PC Dave Lee explained: “The driver hadn’t sent proof of no claims or informed insurers of a change in address so didn’t receive a letter stating that the policy had been cancelled. The car was therefore not insured and the driver had the choice of paying a £300 fine and six points on his licence or going to court. He also had to pay to collect it as well, which is £150 plus a daily storage charge – or it would have been crushed.”
“When most people think about uninsured drivers they think of people who deliberately don’t insure their cars - but that’s not always the case. There is a strong message here – make sure your insurance policy is up to date and that all the details are correct – if in doubt check with your insurers. Not doing so could put you on the wrong side of the law and could also be expensive.”
