A NORTHAMPTONSHIRE police officer will be tasked with protecting the Olympic Flame when it begins its route to London.
Metropolitan Police officer Giles Dainty, who comes from Northamptonshire will be working as part of a team of who will travel with the Olympic Flame, from the moment it leaves Lands End until it arrives at the Olympic Stadium for the Opening Ceremony.
PC Dainty will be policing the relay every four days and will be running through parts of Newcastle and London.
He said: “I have such a passion for sport and I can’t wait to be a part of something very special.
“My sister bought me a limited edition print of Olympic creed and it really hit home as to what the Olympics is all about.
“There will be a great atmosphere in London come Games time and I’m really looking forward to it.”
