The interim director of nursing at the Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has died suddenly.
Sharon Dennis, a registered mental health nurse, specialised in acute inpatient care.
She also held a part-time national role as a clinical specialty adviser, was a regional co-director of the Royal College of Nursing as well as a member of the college’s Mental Health Forum’s Steering Committee.
More recently, she worked as a Mental Health Management Consultant. The Windrush Nurses and Beyond Foundation had recently named its Mental Health Nursing Award after her.
Angela Hillery, chief executive of the trust, said: “It is with deep regret that we learned of the sad and sudden death of Sharon Dennis.
“Because her death was unexpected we must await the outcome of the formal processes the police follow to determine the cause of her death.
“Sharon had been working at the Trust since August 2013 and had already made an impact despite this short length of time.
“She will be much missed by colleagues and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this tragic time.”
