An annual Halloween event in Earls Barton has beaten the likes of Alton Towers and Thorpe Park by winning the national title of ‘Best Halloween Scream Park’.
Dr Fright’s Halloween Nights, which terrify visitors with a themed horror park tour at Whites Nurseries in Clay Lane every year, picked up the prize at the SCAR awards, held at Thorpe Park.
The Northants Telegraph took a trip to the attraction back in 2011.
It beat more well-known nominees for the category, including the Alton Towers Scarefest and Thorpe Park Fright Nights, after many a successful Halloween making visitors jump with chilling special effects and gruesome hiding characters.
Dr Fright himself – who is actually named Joe Gray and runs the event alongside his brother Robert – said: “The award is highly coveted in the industry, and I feel it is great for Northamptonshire that our independent event, that started off so small, has risen up and been voted best in the country.”
The event is supported by horror event promoters ScareCON, Scaretrack and ScareTOUR.
This year’s extravaganza, entitled ‘American Nightmares’, will take place from October 16 to 31.
It is strictly open only to visitors over the age of 12 and under-15s must be accompanied by an adult.
