New underwear shop is opened in town centre

A COUPLE who have opened a new shop selling lingerie in Wellingborough’s town centre are hoping for good sales ahead of Christmas.

Lace on Silver Streetis the first high street shop in the UK to offer the baci range of lingerie which comes from Miami.

The designs include lace body suits, corsets and costumes.

Shop owner Chantal Barnett, who opened the shop with her husband Steve last week said the business is doing well.

Chantal said: “It has gone really well.

“I think some people think we are a sex shop but that’s not what it is at all, we offer a range of luxury lingerie at sensible prices.

“Everything here is priced between £6 and £50 – I won’t sell anything for more than that.

“Some of it is sensible and some if it is more raunchy, and we do offer customers the chance to order from our catalogues if there is something that they want but can’t see in the shop.

“But it isn’t Ann Summers, we aren’t licensed and we don’t sell toys or anything like that.

“There is a real range of underwear here – from knickers to underwear sets, corsets as well as handmade jewellery.”

The pair hope that the business will do well over the Christmas and Valentine’s day periods.

Steve Barnett added: “We have run a few websites where we have sold this kind of thing and I think there is a demand for it in Wellingborough.

“There is nothing else like it around and I think there is something for everyone.

“We have stock here ranging from size eight to 16 but we will be getting a bigger range of sizes from six to 22 in the near future.

“We also offer jewelled and metal bra straps and jewellery that can alter the look of dresses.”

Shoppers in town yesterday welcomed the shop.

Claire Westfield, of Senwick Drive, said: ”I think it’s good to have a new shop in the town and there aren’t any other shops selling things like that.

“The window looks good.”

At the moment the shop is offering £5 off any single purchase of £30.
