New signage to help visitors to popular education centre

An interpretation board and new signage will be designed to help visitors to the Newton Field Centre and neighbouring Wildlife Meadow.

Kettering Labour councillors Mick Scrimshaw and Eileen Hales pledged £1,500 from their Empowering Councillors and Communities Fund to purchase the information board and safety signage.

An interpretation board is a form of sign displaying information in a vibrant and inviting way while educating and influencing visitors.

The board will be designed by a talented volunteer and safety signage installed to enhance the grassland reserve, which is a habitat designed to attract wildlife and provide a teaching area adjacent to the Rive Ise Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Cllr Scrimshaw said: “It’s not in my division but I’m supporting this project because I recognise that Wildlife Meadow is an extremely popular attraction.

“Children from the Kettering area visit frequently as part of school and college trips.”

Cllr Hales added: “The centre does an incredible amount of good work.”
