New school prepares to welcome its first pupils

A new £4.3m school is preparing to greet its first pupils in September.

Little Stanion Primary School opens on Thursday, September 6, when about 60 children will start lessons.

The school, which will eventually cater for 120 pupils, will also have a nursery unit which is to open in January next year.

The staff will comprise of headteacher Helen Williams, four teachers, four teaching assistants, a site supervisor and business manager Jackie Sandy, who said: “We are all very excited about the school opening.

“We aim to make it a focal point of the community in Little Stanion and hope that people will use its facilities. It has a very impressive community space.”

The school includes a community room with a kitchen which can be rented out by groups and individuals for meetings and functions, along with the main hall.
