The new mayor of Rushden has said she is looking forward to being involved in all aspects of town life during her year in office.
Cllr Tracey Smtih was elected as town mayor for 2016-17 at the annual meeting of Rushden Town Council on Tuesday.
She has served on the town council since May 2011 and is one of the councillors representing the Pemberton ward.
Cllr Smith, who takes over the role of mayor from Cllr Kaye Rawlins, will have her daughter Amy Hannah as her consort as well as Cllr Paul Harley as consort’s assistant.
A number of civic events have already been planned for the coming year, including Rushden Party Week which is taking place in July and culminating with Party in the Park, the Last Night of the Proms concert in September and a number of social events which are still to be confirmed.
Cllr Smith will be holding her civic service in October and a civic dinner in February 2017.
During her mayoral year, Cllr Smith has said she is very much looking forward to meeting people and being involved in all aspects of town life.
