A woman is in training to become a gym instructor and will soon get married after shedding 14 stone in two years.

This made Anna Loperfido, of Jasmine Road, Kettering, go from a dress size 34 to a 14 and her weight loss over the past 12 months has made her Kettering Slimming World’s Greatest Loser.

Miss Loperfido, 29, said: “I feel like a new woman since losing weight, people I haven’t seen for a while say they don’t recognise me.

“Being overweight affected every part of my life, I hated clothes shopping and just climbing up stairs would leave me out of breath.”

In March 2010, Miss Loperfido weighed 27 stone and after seeing an advert for Slimming World she joined the Kettering branch at The Royal Hotel.

She added: “I was terrified that I was going to be the biggest person there. But everyone was so friendly and welcoming.”

Through the club’s Food Optimising plan and gym use she lost 17.5lb in her first week and 42lb in just over a month.

Miss Loperfido said: “I can still enjoy my favourite meals but now I cook them differently.

“I don’t think I could have done it without the support of my consultant Jayne Chambers and the group, it was like a family.”

Miss Chambers said: “Anna’s unrecognisable, inside and out, from the person who walked into the group all those months ago.

“She’s a huge inspiration and I hope her success will inspire people in Kettering who’d like to lose weight to take action too.”

Miss Loperfido will now go forward to the national Greatest Loser competition where the winner will win £3,000.

She said: “I would love to win but even if I don’t, I feel so good and that feeling is priceless.”

Kettering Slimming World meets at 4pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesdays.
