New houses completed on site of former Rangers Club in Corby

Westleigh has provided 24 new affordable homes at the development in Rockingham Road in partnership with Housing Association Riverside and Corby Council.

The site was formerly home to the Glasgow Rangers football supporters club but had become derelict following its closure in February 2013.

The £2.5m project, which was completed in December after 12 months on-site, has provided a mixture of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments as well as other two-bedroom homes.

Funding for the development was provided by Riverside and the Homes and Communities Agency.

And the homes have been snapped up fast with just one of the properties left for sale which is available through the Government’s shared ownership scheme being offered by Riverside.

Gary Turner, head of investment and partnership at Westleigh, said: “These new homes have come to fruiton as a result of a great working partnership which has allowed us to build a diverse mix of properties on a disused site that would have otherwise lain dormant.

“We are thrilled to hear of the success of the development and with just one of the properties remaining we would urge any interested buyers to make contact soon.”

Sales and new business negotiator at Riverside Home Ownership, Catherine Corkish said: “We are thrilled with the success of the development, the response to the properties has been overwhelming.

Corby Council’s lead member for housing, Cllr Bob Eyles, said: “It’s fantastic news that this site has come to completion and even better that the homes have been snapped up so quickly, with only one property left for sale.

“Offering affordable housing in Corby is a huge priority to us and we have been eagerly awaiting the completion of this latest project.

“I hope the new tenants and homeowners settle in quickly and enjoy life in their new home.”

Westleigh is part of the Homes & Communities Agency Delivery Partner Panel on both the Midlands and Northern lots and works closely with housing associations to build affordable new homes throughout the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire.
