Cllr Pam Whiting was elected as the new mayor for Higham Ferrers at the town council’s annual meeting on May 16, with Cllr Peter Tomas elected as deputy mayor.
Cllr Whiting said: “As the mayor of Higham Ferrers for 2016/17, a position I am very pleased and honoured to hold, I am looking forward to meeting as many residents of the town as possible, both individually and by visiting various groups and organisations in the town.
“This is my second term as mayor, I did it previously during 2002/2003, my late husband George was mayor in 2014/15 so I am quite used to civic duties and looking forward to the year ahead.
“My charities for the year will be the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and the Northamptonshire Association for the Blind.
