New flats bid for town

A boarded-up former pub built in the 1880s could be demolished to make way for 26 new apartments.

Westleigh Developments Limited wants to build the new homes on the site of the Dun Cow pub in Gold Street, Wellingborough.

The company has also applied to Wellingborough Council for permission to demolish the existing former public house and outbuildings.

The proposed new residential development would include 26 apartments and car parking.

Members of Wellingborough Council’s planning committee will decide whether to give the application their approval at a meeting on Wednesday, February 27.

The committee will also consider an application to demolish the old Queensway Medical Centre in Olympic Way, Wellingborough.

Developers want to build eight homes on the site of the former surgery.
