Shoppers will have the chance to bag a bargain when a new store opens at a retail park tomorrow.
National retailer Poundworld has chosen Kettering to open one of its new multi-price brand Bargain Buys stores at the town’s Northfield Retail Park.
Located next to Sports Direct, Bargain Buys will open at 10am tomorrow and the firm says it will create 20 local retail jobs.
Bargain Buys offers goods across 25 different departments, including groceries, cleaning, home wares, pet care, gardening and toys.
The store opening is part of a planned UK expansion as Bargain Buys looks to open five stores in the Northamptonshire area in the next year.
It is hoped that these new stores will create a further 100 jobs.
As part of the opening celebrations, staff and volunteers will be raising funds for Kettering General Hospital’s Foundation Trust, based just up the road from the new store.
David Rotherham, store manager at Bargain Buys, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our first store in Kettering at Northfield Retail Park.
“We have some unmissable bargains on leading brands that will help our customers save more on their weekly shop.
“As a family-run business we really care about offering a fantastic value shopping experience and we hope the new store will be received well by Kettering residents.
“We’re expecting a busy opening with thousands of bargain hunters expected across the opening weekend.”
Bargain Buys is a new value brand to join the UK and the store in Kettering will be the 34th to open in the UK.
It is opening in the unit which used to be DiscountUK at the retail park.
It will join the likes of Sports Direct, Maplin, Wickes, Dunelm, McDonald’s, Dreams, Halfords, PC World and Carpet Right.
Poundworld revealed in 2013 that it was rebranding its DiscountUK portfolio to Bargain Buys, with the hope that it would rival major discount chains such as Home Bargains and B&M Bargains.
