The new chairman of East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) has said he wants more residents to know about what the area has to offer.
Cllr Colin Wright, a district councillor for Rushden, took over from outgoing chairman, Cllr Rupert Reichhold, at the annual meeting of East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) this week.
Cllr Wright has been a district councillor since 2002 and is currently the ward member for Rushden Pemberton ward.
He is looking forward to representing the district and the work of the council at events over the next 12 months, meeting as many people as possible from the towns and parishes in East Northants.
His consort is his wife Linda.
Cllr Wright said: “I am pleased to have been nominated and elected chairman for the forthcoming year and want to thank members for their confidence and support.
“My aim is for people to see me as the representative of ENC, representing those that work within the organisation as being contactable and committed to enhancing the lives of those that live within the district.
“East Northamptonshire is the hidden dream and I want all residents to know more about what it has to offer and I hope my time as chairman will achieve this.”
Events already planned for the year include a hog roast and an evening with an ABBA tribute band to raise money for the chairman’s charities - the Swivel Club and Dogs Trust.
District councillor for the Thrapston Lakes ward, Cllr Wendy Brackenbury, was named as vice-chairman for the year.
