The Friends of Thoroughsale and Hazelwood group has received funding to build a new community cabin at Corby Boating Lake.
The cabin will be used by pupils to learn about wildlife and the history of the ancient woodland surrounding the lake.
Community groups will also be able to hold wildlife watching events and the cabin will be a meeting place for volunteers who work on the woods on a daily basis.
It will also house a shop where residents will be able to buy wood.
Corby Council’s lead member for community, Cllr John McGhee, said: “Corby Boating Lake is one of the borough’s most loved green spaces and a place that all the family can enjoy. The new cabin will add even more character to the park and I’m sure residents will take full advantage of its purposes. A big thank you to all of those involved and we look forward to the new facility being up and running.”
Funding for the new cabin has come from Wren, which gives grants for community and environmental projects.
